2013 New Line-Ups Sun Parasol® Garden Crimson
Sun Parasol® is the brand name given to a completely new collection of Mandevilla hybrids.
The aim of this brand is to put across the fact that this is an entirely new group of varieties obtained by cross-breeding.
The genus Mandevilla has many sub-groups including sanderi, boliviensis and amoena, which are all known for their climbing or trailing properties.
Until recently the sanderi was the leading variety in the North America, however the market of Mandevilla has changed drastically with the arrival of Sun Parasol®.
Sun Parasol® has the potential to overtake the sanderi group in terms of volume.
Sun Parasol® is bred by the innovative plant breeding company Suntory® Flowers Ltd,
from Japan. Suntory® bred the first vegetatively propagated Trailing Petunia called Surfinia®,
Verbena’s Tapien® and Temari®, Viola called Violina® and the very first Calibrachoa
hybrids to the worlds market place, called Million Bells®.
The secret of Sun Parasol® Crimson is that it is the first genuine crimson sanderi that stays true to color. It also has better branching, than the old sanderi types, and is easy to cultivate in North America.
Sun Parasol® has now been on the North American market since 2003 and its development is almost as tumultuous as that previously experienced by the Petunia Surfinia®.
Sun Parasol® will open up new markets. It has now become a firm consumer favorite thanks to its rich and long lasting flowers, excellent garden performance and undemanding nature. Every consumer who buys or receives Sun Parasol® is bound to want this magnificent product in their garden again next year. This has been indicated by consumer research! In addition to being popular as a pot plant, Sun Parasol® is also emerging as a hanging plant and as a compact balcony and bedding plant.
